## WHAT IS IT?

This is an exploration of mars exo-migration and its effect on earth population
It attempts to answer the question can exo-migration solve earth’s population issues q

## HOW IT WORKS

earth-pop: means obviously the earth’s population
mars-pop: can be read as the population of a mars colony or as simply the number of people living in space.
ship is the number of people earth has the ability to ship to mars in a year.
Growth-rate is simply the rate at which the respective populations of earth and mars grow. I set is at the current growth rate of earth.
Tech-advance is the rate of increase in the number of people we can ship per year a 1 meaning an insane doubling of the number of astronauts a year 0 meaning no increase.

## HOW TO USE IT

Hit setup/restart to setup the default conditions use the sliders to whatever you see fit. Hit advance one year / decade etc. to see the results.

## THINGS TO NOTICE

Notice that earth’s population does not decrease until the ship variable is quite high
Watch the Max-earth-pop monitor is it within what you figure the earth can support?
## THINGS TO TRY

Try out scenarios with high ship but 0 tech-advance simulation a hard limit in the number of people we can get off the planet in a year.

## EXTENDING THE MODEL

The energy requirements of this sort of program would be quite interesting.
